now welcomes guests to Balenciaga’s Spring 2023 fashion show with a faux stack of cash.
The “BALENCIAGA DOLLARS” resemble the U.S. hundred dollar bill with the classic Benjamin Franklin mural and markings. However, upon closer inspection, date and time indicators for the show as well as “Balenciaga Spring 23 Show” text are printed on the papers. A Balenciaga-branded green currency strap offers an additional disclaimer indicating that the cash invitation contains no serial numbers and cannot be used as legal tender, and the cash invitation hints at the location of the show, which is set to take place at the New York Stock Exchange building.  As an extra touch, the dollars are said to have been imbued with a distinct smell courtesy of artist and researcher
